I bought each of my kids a car when they completed their graduation. I gave my eldest kid a 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and my little daughter a 2020 Toyota Camry. In the eight years between their respective graduations, I came across some information about wrecked vehicles for sale. And that is the difference between the two gifts. One has a used car title, while the other one has a salvage title.
A car title or vehicle title is a document that is given to a car or vehicle owner and has information about the vehicle written on it. It is mandatory for the car dealers who put up salvage cars for sale to have salvage titles for them. I got a clean, used Mercedes-Benz and a slightly damaged Camry that I got repaired before gifting.
After noticing the use of both, here is why I feel a salvage car can be better for you:
• If you look for salvage cars for sale, you can find some very clean ones with very low damage, like my kid's Camry. The seemingly ‘okay’ used cars can also have weak parts that start becoming problematic after buying one.
• With chances of problems in both types, the cost of salvage cars for sale is way more benefitting than what you have to pay for used cars.
• Although I never engaged in the business, I found out that spare parts of wrecked vehicles for sale are cheap, and they can be repaired for low amounts of money and resold to make hefty profits.
• You can buy wrecked vehicles for sale for pocket change and sell their spare parts, and they would give you more money than what you spent on buying them.
• I got the Camry insured for much less than the Mercedes.
To this day, I wish I knew about salvage cars for sale when my first kid graduated so that I would have bought one for her too – after repairing it, of course. But I am a firm believer in 'Different strokes for different folks,' and I advise you to do some research before making a decision.
